Back from Roma

Wow! It's hard to believe that I was in Rome this morning, and now I'm in the cafeteria of Deusto, but here I am!

This past weekend was an absolute whirlwind of amazing-ness! We got SOOO much done! We flew into Rome Friday afternoon and walked around the city and ate obscene amounts of pizza and gelatto all day - fantastic! And the first glimpse I got of the Colosseum was at night a couple of streets away. It was so impressive! I nearly cried, I was so amazed to finally be there seeing it. Instead, I just kissed it ;)

On Saturday, we went to the Vatican for a LONG day of exploring the world's smallest country. It was beautiful! We climbed up to the inside of the inner dome, then we climbed up to the very TOP of the outer dome and got a spectacular view of the entire city (sans the Colusseum which was hiding behind a hill). Afterwards, we got lunch and then headed to the Sistine Chapel where I snuck some pictures of the ceilling even though the guards were watching like hawks. Afterwards we walked around, ate gelatto, and explored the local discotheque scene for a few hours.

On Sunday, we went to the Colossuem!!! It was absolutely incredible! And might I add that we girls got in for free because it was Women's Day (or something like that)! And our really cool guided tour was only 4 EU, so I think we definitely came out on top. Later, we walked to the Republic, and then the to Pantheon. After that, we went to a really cute sidewalk cafe for lunch, and then walked around some more and went to see a Darwin exhibit. It was really cool, and I'm really impressed by how much we were able to cram into two days.

Pictures to come!

  1. Sounds like you had a great time. Can't wait to see the pictures. I'm hoping that our cruise is a little less intense, but we'll see.

This weekend we finalized my campaign materials, went to get them printed, had a campaign meeting, went to see "Watchmen" (not that great), drove to Lincoln on Sunday morning to be a surrogate dad, had lunch with Melissa, went to most of the UNL baseball game (it was pretty cold), shopped briefly, took Bryan to dinner at Lazlo's (yum, the beer cheese soup was really tasty) and drove home in time to feed Huey a bit later than normal (10:30). Not bad, but not Roma.

    Dad.
